DJ and producer, Dannic, has become a well-known name in the house music scene these past few years. Hailing from the Netherlands, he is just one of the many Dutch musicians making waves in the EDM world. Ranked #26 in DJ Mag's “Top 100 DJs”, Dannic has proven himself to be one of the most highly regarded Djs of his time. Luckily, he gave his fans and aspiring producers themselves a quick preview into his creative process with this hour long track production video.
Being a seasoned producer, Dannic already understands what sort of sound he is going for and what works best for him. He immediately sticks to the classic house beat of 128 BPM, and already has a kickdrum sample prepared. However, he reminds viewers to, “listen to your ears,” as intuition is key to producing club-bumping music. This can be seen when he starts to create a melody on the piano despite the fact he is not a classically trained artist. Even though he goes through a trial-and-error process, it isn't long before a melody is constructed that he is satisfied with.
Dannic's natural intuition is what guides him to produce the sought-after music that has come to define him. Yet, that doesn't mean he's not afraid to take risks in his production process. He expresses this sentiment by urging those watching to, “do what people won't expect.”
Even though the end product is still raw, and is just a basic outline of a potential track, Dannic still proves his musical capabilities in just an hour.
