Zeds Dead launches their own label, DeadBeats records

Zeds Dead have launched their own record label, “DeadBeats Records”, an ambitious but inevitable venture for the Toronto based duo. Dylan Mamid (aka DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (aka Hooks) formed Zeds Dead in 2009 and they've taken a big leap by investing their interests in DeadBeats and it’s own music scene. All taking place in Toronto, this label will shine a brighter light on the already illuminated Canadian city and its thriving electronic music scene. The city has a voice and now it is speaking the DeadBeats language.

“Northern Lights”, their forthcoming album will be self released on October 14th. The album features an eclectic group of artists including Elliphant, Pusha T, Jadakiss, Twin Shadow and Dragonette. 2016 is a year to remember for them, as their tour through Canada, the US and Europe kicked off last week as well. Zeds Dead’s music is built on a foundation of self ownership and this label was only the logical move to make for them. With DeadBeats, Zeds Dead is not an artist but an entity.

Zeds Dead put a lot of importance on ownership of their music, artistically and legally.

The way that we have to do things, which is pretty much diy and, that's been how it was since the beginning. – zack

DeadBeats introductory release is “Back Home” featuring Freddie Gibz.
