Happy October everyone! With Spooktober upon us, all of the gremlins and ghouls are coming out of the woodwork to celebrate this every so interesting time of year. October is not only filled with Halloween and tons of scary movie marathons, but this year, also some of the best shows the East Coast has ever seen. With festival season ending, a large sense of depression tends to wash over the EDM community. While we love our shows during the rest of the year, it's a little disheartening to leave our boundless outdoor space during festival season and retreat back to our dark rooms that shield us from the cold outside. However this October, there is a very special show to look forward to!
Next week on October 8th, one of the most legendary venues in the world for the genre of dubstep is celebrating a very special anniversary. Bassment Saturdays at Webster Hall will be celebrating it's 5-year Anniversary show with with a massive lineup. Starting off the night will be a direct support slot from the venue's own Laetus. Laetus tends to be a relatively new name to Bassment Saturday's who had been dominated by local in house opener Subset. While fans were slightly nervous to see Sub go, they welcomed in Laetus with open arms and he surely has not disappointed.
The headliners for the night both hail from Disciple Records. Virtual Riot and Dubloadz will be hitting the stage with their individual heavy, forward thinking brands of dubstep. With Disciple growing as the leading up and coming label in all of dance music, Virtual Riot and Dubloadz have paved the path, mashing together tons of different styles of bass music. With Virtual Riot having experience in both future bass as well as melodic bass similar to Seven Lions, and Dubloadz originally being part of the now massively popular riddim scene, the night is set to be one that carries diversity that many shows do not.
On top of the talent, this will be a night of celebration. Bassment Saturday's has been blessing New York City with consistent talent and fantastic productions for the last five years, and even a single show done by them is something to be honored. They've set the standard for bass venues all over the nation, and have the reputation they have for good reason. So prepare your neck braces, set the speakers for melting volume, and watch as one of the most dedicated fan bases for a venue in the world comes together to celebrate the gold standard of bass music. Tickets are still available here, get em while they're hot and we'll see you all there!
