So there's tropical house, and deep house… and jungle house… and all those houses now. Every so often I become aware of a new one, and this time it was the pleasantly wonderful forest house. TheFatRat released the unique single ‘Monody' a few months ago, which I was fortunate enough to stumble upon last week. Since then, the track has been on continuous repeat making up a minimum of 25% of my daily plays. Without further to do, allow me to grovel at the glory that is Monody by The FatRat.
Part of the reason why I love this track so much, is due to the unpredictable direction of the melody. While the track begins by drawing you in with a mystical Lord Of The Rings type feel enforced with the unique harmony of bag pipes and flute, it then progresses to an upbeat, electro “drop” that radiates nothing but positive energy. The electro-feel is a clear divergence from the intro of the song, but it is executed so well that I couldn't imagine the song having taken any other direction.
Three minutes into the song, TheFatRat introduces yet another diverging pattern in the form of Laura Brehm's voice. He slows down the electro tempo, and submerges the listener into a deeply relaxing and genuinely beautiful melodic rhythm. This definitely takes the cake for my favorite part of the song, as not only are the vocals beyond amazing, but the feel of the song is so well accompanied by the voice it's just so… thank you.
If you haven't gotten the chance to hear the song, I definitely suggest checking it out below!
