Canadian bass master Excision drops back into view early in the new year and has commissioned a bunch of remixes of his huge “Codename X” single on his own Rottun Records imprint. Originally released last year, “Codename X” is given a fresh lick of paint by five different producers, who endeavour to bring their own style to Excision's stadium-sized sound.
German producer Virtual Riot throws haymakers with “punch to gut” riffs and bass, while xKore delivers piercing arpeggiated sound design and hard hitting snare drums. Truth smooth the edges slightly with a more stripped back affair, providing some respite from the aural onslaught, whilst Miu and Ryle & Sullivan King make up the rest of this stellar collection.
