2015 Treasure Island Music Festival Preview

As festival season slowly comes to a close, there’s still one more goodie in the pipeline. This weekend, the fog will part and the sun will shine (hopefully) down on the Bay Area’s Treasure Island Music Festival.

The festival’s eclectic lineup (below) is split into two days of amazing music: Day 1 reserved for electronica and hip/hop, Day 2 for indie and rock. So, naturally, Day 1 is my favorite, and this year is quite possibly one of my favorite and most looked-forward Day 1 lineups ever.

The sets I can’t wait for:

Viceroy
Saturday, 1:30, Bridge Stage
This tropical Bay Area-native is a perfect way to get the weekend started. Scoot on over to TI a little earlier to check out the fun, chill sound waves of Viceroy and warm up them soon-to-be grooving dancing bones.

Gorgon City
Saturday, 3:00, Bridge Stage
I have been trying to see Gorgon City for a few years now, but always seem to miss them somehow. Finally, my chance! I have heard nothing but good—actually, amazing—things about the English duo’s live performances.

Cashmere Cat
Saturday, 5:25, Tunnel Stage
Cashmere Cat is a Norwegian musician most known for his chill pop and unique takes on R&B and futuristic hip-hop. Grab a beer and check out Cashmere Cat’s one-of-kind sounds, catchy singles, and sure-to-be mesmerizing set.

The sunset set is getting rowdy this year with none other than the bass-hitting, beat-dropping Hudson Mohawke. Be there.

Big Grams

HAVE YOU HEARD? Electro phenoms Phantogram partnered up with rapper Big Boi to create, waaiiiit for it, Big Grams. Their recently released EP, guest-stars Run The Jewels (also at TI) and Skrillex and is 7 tracks of pure electronic/hip-hop genius.
