Listen to Kaskade Debut Incredible New Single at EDC
Kaskade was busy last weekend, boarding Holy Ship! for a surprise B2B set with Skrillex and headlining EDC Puerto Rico. And it was at EDC that Kaskade premiered some of his new music, a song possibly named “Never Sleep Alone,” according to his Twitter.
Fortunately for us, YouTube user Xavier Fernandez was able to capture that moment and share it with the world. Granted, the video is a bit choppy and the audio isn’t perfect but it manages to get its main point across.

Other EDC Puerto Rico headliners included Steve Aoki, Nervo, DVBBS, and Bassnectar.
Between Holy Ship! and EDC Puerto Rico, Kaskade squeezed a whole lot into one weekend, and premiering unreleased material live is exactly the kind of move that gets a fanbase like his buzzing. A single hashtag, #NeverSleepAlone, was basically all the confirmation anyone needed that this thing had an official title on the way. Live debuts like this have become a real trend for Kaskade over the years; rather than sitting on new music until a formal single rollout, he tends to just drop it into a set and let the crowd’s reaction do the talking, letting fan-shot clips like Xavier Fernandez’s do the promotional legwork long before any label push kicks in.
For what it’s worth, “Never Sleep Alone” did go on to become an official Kaskade release, arriving as a single in the weeks that followed this EDC Puerto Rico debut. If the crowd reaction in that shaky fan cam was any indication, it was worth the wait.
It’s also worth remembering how much this kind of fan-captured footage shaped the EDM blogosphere back in 2015. This was before most producers had a polished snippet-drop system on Instagram or TikTok; moments like this lived or died based on whether some random festival-goer with a decent phone camera happened to be standing in the right spot. Xavier Fernandez earned himself a solid footnote in Kaskade history just by hitting record at the right time, and it’s exactly the kind of grassroots documentation that made covering this scene so much fun in the first place.
