Ummet Ozcan is back, and this time with an original track called, ‘Kensei'. You may have heard the track at a recent show of his, as he has been playing the electro house banger recently, making the crowd go absolutely wild. Ummet is trying to top his incredible 2014, that featured massive releases in ‘Smash', ‘Soundwave', and many more. Continuing to build upon the success that led the Turkish-Dutch DJ to #31 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ's Chart. It was a huge jump of 68 spots from the previous year, which was well deserved. I had a chance to speak with Ummet Ozcan, via email, about these rankings and his recent success.

You jumped 68 spots on DJ Mag's Top 100 Chart to #31. Congrats! What is your view on the yearly chart? Do you think people put too much stock in just a number?
“Thanks, I am very glad with this year’s result. For me it’s a big achievement to be in that list with all those great producers and DJ's. And yes I think it’s an important list. It’s a list of recognition for hard work and talent. However I won’t say that it would not work without the list, but it gives us a platform to reach more people with our music”.

How do you build off of the success of previous tracks and stay humble as well?
“Well, whenever there is a release there are always high expectations, but you’ll never get any guarantees for a hit record. I can’t lean back thinking it will all work out, cause that’s not the way it works. There is a lot of great talent and competition out there so I have to be very focused”.

There are big plans in store for Ummet in 2015, and this latest release is just the start.
