Those of you may remember Michael Badal as the trance prodigy discovered by Tiesto just shy of a decade ago. Now the young producer is upon the eve of his first full-length release ,Now That We’re Human, set to be released this April on Black Hole Recordings after nearly 3 years in production. Treating us with his 2nd single, Closer, features the dazzling Ellie Lawson on vocals and reflects Michael’s evolution into something much more than a trance producer.
Whether it’s the very Deadmau5ey chord progression, Ellie’s soothing voice, or the brilliant mixture of pop and disco elements, Closer makes for an incredibly catchy and listenable song. The crisp production is testament to Badal’s extensive production experience and the simplicity helps bring the focus to the songwriting rather than the glitz and glamour that most of today’s modern EDM relies on. The remixes are no slouch either as each artist brings a totally new vibe to the original, with Dan Seig tuning it down for a chill out experience, DJ Zya bringing the heat with a heavy complextro edit, and Mike EFEX doing one for the oldschool fans with a trance version.
Now That We’re Human is looking better everyday, and if it contains more tracks like Closer, Michael Badal could very well be sitting on one of the best dance music albums of year.
