With three planned releases this month including two already available (Wondergroud and Abducted Cowboy featuring Lokka Vox), IYFFE has already had a busy start to 2015. The next release, an official remix of Universal Music artist Sterling Fox, has a highly anticipated release. IYFFE stated to us”We have more tracks that we are working on in the studio, however our main goal is far from the style of ‘Wonderground'”. It was also stated that the amazing duo may plan to release the electro style tunes for free download.
“There was no professionalism at all”
So, you may be wondering how this duo became what is now IYFFE. “It was funny, we had mutual friends and we began our careers on the psy-trance Brazilian circuit,” they stated. Pedro added, “We were just kids trying to make a living getting small fees and partying hard. There was no professionalism at all.” However, in 2010 things would start to change. Both current members, Alex Mind and Darth & Vader, were on the same agency when former member Conrad Funk had a falling out with IYFFE. “The first thing that I did was to call Hugo (Darth & Vader),” Pedro stated.
IYFFE is focusing on the groove
Over the years, the psy-trance scene has developed some great artists such as Infected Mushroom, Double-Click, and Sub6 into an array of other genres. The same went for IYFFE. However, how did they get influenced into their current style? “There is an unreal amount of good music these days, so it's really hard to keep up sometimes,” they said. Pedro mentioned a few of their favorite artists: Seven Lions, 501, Xilent, RL Grime, and Bassnectar. It is possible that these influences, along with artist development and opportunity, allowed them to make a smooth transition to where they are now. Pedro also mentioned that IYFFE has strayed away from “noisy and distorted music” and the duo plans to focus more on the groove.
“We are deeply in love with Sugar Bytes Turnado”
It is always fascinating to know what sorts of plugins, instruments, and VSTs artists use to make some of their creations. From Deadmau5 with his wall of analog hardware to someone just starting of with a totally legitimate copy of FL Studio or Ableton and a few plugins they found online. In the case of IYFFE, they have a passion for Sugar Bytes and Valhalla products. They noted they use Turnado, Valhalla Room, and WOW2 mostly.
