Zedd Goes Hip-Hop?

Zedd is no stranger to big-name collaborations — the guy has built a career out of pairing up with the right artist at the right time, and it always seems to work out. He’s one of those rare producers who genuinely knows exactly who to link up with for maximum results, whether that means pop royalty or someone completely left of center.

Now Zedd is teaming up with Logic for what is sure to be an incredible track. If you don’t know Logic he is the artist behind “All I Do”, Mind Of Logic, and many other deep and soulful tracks that hit way harder than most of what else was coming out of the mixtape scene at the time. It’s definitely going to be interesting to see how this plays out considering most of Zedd’s collaborations up to this point have been pop, but that’s exactly what makes it exciting.

Genre-crossing collabs like this one are always a bit of a gamble. Sometimes an EDM producer grabs a rapper for a feature and it feels tacked on, like the vocal got dropped onto a beat that was already finished without them in mind. Other times you get something that actually reshapes both artists’ sound and ends up outliving the hype around its own announcement. Given Zedd’s track record for turning unlikely pairings into festival staples, we’re betting on the latter here — and honestly, that’s the whole appeal of watching a producer like this work. You never quite know who’s going to show up on the next tracklist, and that unpredictability is a big part of why fans keep paying attention to everything Zedd teases online.

It’s also worth pointing out how early Zedd was to this trend of blending hip-hop vocals with big-room production. A few years later, half the electronic charts would be built around rapper features, but back in 2014 pairing a dance producer with someone from the hip-hop world still felt like a genuine risk rather than a formula.
