American electro house producer and DJ Steve Aoki has announced a new side project. While playing Cafe Mambo in Ibiza, Aoki realized that throwing down his signature bangers failed to please the crowd, and started spinning deeper tracks instead. In order to preserve his already well established sound, Aoki has decided to start a side project so fans won't confuse his new and old sounds.

“I won’t release it under Steve Aoki, it’ll be under another name. I don’t want to confuse people who associate me with my usual sound, and I want it to be judged on its own merits. We’ll see how it does.”

Steve Aoki's decision to keep up with the deep house trend reflects his flexibility and skill as an artist to experiment out of his comfort zone. Steve Aoki further states that his fans come first and in order to cater to a wide audience of EDM fans with eclectic taste, Aoki is not straying from his roots, but rather adding to them.

“My intention is to showcase music, but the way I see it is that the different props are there to raise the energy and emotion: if people are enjoying themselves then it’s working. To me it’s not a distraction from the music, it’s a supplement.”

In due time Steve Aoki will reveal the name of his project, but in the meantime check out his SoundCloud for the cake thrower's classics.
