The Line Up For Corona Capital Festival Has Been Revealed

If you happen to be in Mexico City this weekend or if you’re from there, make sure to go check out the Corona Capital festival tomorrow and Sunday. This annual festival has a pretty impressive line up this year with Kings of Leon and Jack White serving as headliners alongside MGMT, Foster the People, Beck and Massive Attack among others. For the EDM headliners, names like Zedd, Gareth Emery and Deorro pop up.

In addition to Kings of Leon, Jack White, Beck, Foster the People, the two-day musical festival will bring over 60 acts including: Weezer, Damon Albarn, Neon Trees, Kasabian, The Kooks, Belle & Sebastian, The Horrors, Haim, Sbtrkt, Little Dragon, Lykke Li, St. Vincent, Chvrches, Metronomy, Best Coast, Conor Oberst, Jenny Lewis, and Holy Ghost, Sky Ferreira, Biffy Clyro, among many others.

For anyone who hasn’t been paying attention, Corona Capital has quietly turned into one of the biggest festivals in Latin America. It kicked off back in 2010, put on by Mexican promoter OCESA, and it’s grown every year since into what a lot of people now call Mexico’s answer to Coachella. The whole thing goes down at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the same race track that hosts Mexico’s Formula 1 Grand Prix, which is a pretty wild backdrop for a music festival when you think about it. Over the years the bill has pulled in everyone from The Strokes and Portishead to LCD Soundsystem, Foo Fighters and Green Day, mixing rock, indie, alternative and hip hop with just enough dance music sprinkled in to keep the EDM crowd happy too.

Speaking of that dance music crowd, this year’s EDM contingent is small but stacked. Zedd was still riding the wave of “Clarity” and about to blow up even bigger with “True Colors.” Gareth Emery had just come off his “Drive” album and was one of trance’s most consistent headliners. Deorro, meanwhile, was fresh off “Five Hours” turning into a legit crossover hit, so catching him on a bill this stacked with rock royalty says a lot about how far dance music had crept into the mainstream festival conversation by 2014.

All of this while sipping on Coronas all weekend! To grab your tickets and for more information, check out the festival’s official website.

Check out the awesome video they put together with the line up announcement below. I wish I was in Mexico City for this one!
