David Guetta & Showtek feat. Vassy – Bad

And he does it again! David Guetta hits Beatport #1 spot for the third time this year with new track ‘Bad’ the week of FMIF and UMF Miami! After recent club track successes like ‘Shot Me Down’ and his rework of Avicii’s ‘Addicted To You’, David Guetta has hit the #1 spot at Beatport for the third time in 2014 with incredible new single ‘Bad’, which also features duo Showtek.
‘Bad’ bears all the hallmarks of yet another Guetta classic in the making, which puts him in a very good momentum heading into Ultra Music Festival and WMC in Miami. Let’s see what the french man surprises us with next. He will be performing on Friday, March 28th during FMIF @ Story Miami and on Sunday, 30th March at Ultra Music Festival.

‘Bad’ officially dropped on March 17th, 2014 through Parlophone/Jack Back/What A Music, and it went on to do a lot more than just top Beatport — the track hit #11 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, cracked the UK Singles Chart at #22, and shot all the way to #1 in Finland, Norway, and South Korea. It ended up going multi-platinum internationally too, including 2x Platinum in Australia and a massive 5x Platinum in Sweden, so this was way more than just a Beatport flash in the pan. The track was co-produced by Guetta, Showtek, and Sultan + Ned Shepard, with additional writing from Giorgio Tuinfort, and it later found a home on the deluxe edition of Guetta’s Listen album.
Not every critic was fully sold, though — some pointed to Vassy’s heavily processed, auto-tuned vocal as the track’s one weak spot, even as reviewers elsewhere praised the “grittier electro house sound” Showtek brought to the production, with the beats hitting “thicker and faster than ever” compared to Guetta’s more polished pop-leaning singles. Either way, the numbers speak for themselves: three Beatport #1s in a single year heading into Miami Music Week is a ridiculous run by anyone’s standard, and ‘Bad’ cemented Guetta and Showtek’s chemistry going into a run of future collaborations together in the years that followed.
