The latest to join in on the craze of music discovery iPhone apps is MTV, which has recently launched what they call MTV Artist. The free app serves multiple functions all designed to help fans discover more information about their favorite music and artists.
MTV Artists not only has a Shazam-like feature that identifies music playing in the background, but it contains a lyrics search that requires only a few words from whatever song you wish to know. Both of which may be useful for songs that you are hearing for the first time.
On top of the discovery functions, MTV Artists allows you to learn more about artists through in-depth profiles which contain things such as image galleries, videos and tour dates.
MTV Artists is available in the US App Store now, though it is only available for iOS. An Android version is in the works and is set to come out next year some time, according to the network.
