On Friday, September 27, Calvin Harris, Flux Pavilion, Morgan Page, and others took the main stage in Detroit, Michigan. During this music festival powered by React Presents, AEG Live Midwest, and Elektricity Events, we were able to give you a front row pass to see the action. Check out the post below and find out what happend!
4:30 PM The gates finally open!
Several fest-goers poured in through the gates and made their way around the grounds. Make no mistake that even this early in the day that there was in fact plenty to see. Near the main stage, a table was set up with several cans of paint as a man from Motor City Art Machine skillfully crafted beautiful works of art. One of his pieces was of one of the artists performing, “Beats Antique” who even took the time to autograph the art.
6:00 PM The stands start to bounce
The crowd started to come to life as the sun began to set on Beats Antiques' performance. They incorporated live instruments (drum, horns, and strings) during their set which brought a great feel to the music. The crowd grew larger as they played their remix of Bassnectar‘s “Voodoo” and put the sound system through it's paces.
8:00 PM Morgan Page takes the stage
Morgan Page brought a lot of jumping into the pit. With his uptempo tracks and heavy bass it was no issue getting the crowed to jump around and dance. Looking down onto the stage from the lawn, you can see the brilliant lights and hear the booming bass. Up-close to the stage we were able to catch the reaction of the crowed as they danced and enjoyed the amazing skill of Morgan Page.
9:00 PM Calvin Harris sure knows how to please a crowd!
(Let's go on a side note for a second here. This was my first time seeing Calvin Harris live and all I can say is WOW! Everything was phenomenal from the lights, song choice… everything. Amazing show!)
Calvin Harris did in fact give a great performance. With jets shooting out into the crowd at every drop and confetti pouring down from the air above. As things settled a bit, “We'll Be Coming Back” was heard beginning to play and screams soon resonated in response.
With each new song, the crowd danced harder, jumped higher, and screamed louder. You could even hear everyone singing along as he played “When You Were Young” by The Killers in the middle of his set. After a few more blasts from the jets into the crowd and a few heavy drops later, Calvin Harris wrapped up his set and thanked everyone for enjoying.
10:00 PM Flux Pavilion brings down the house
After Calvin Harris' fantastic show, one might think it would be difficult to follow. However, Flux Pavilion had no problem following in this legend's place. He shook the amphitheater with songs such as “Bass Cannon” and others with incredible amounts of bass. Jets continued to force into the crowd, urging them to jump more along with the pounding bass.
