Spotify Launches New Feature Allowing Users To Share Tracks With ‘Spotify Codes’

Spotify has been at the forefront of music sharing since the company's inception. Today they have released a new feature which mirrors that of Snapchat's friend adding system. It was noted by digital marketing strategist, Moshe Isaacian that the feature came with the new update. It is incredibly intuitive to use and allows friends to share music quickly without having to spell out the name of a particular artist.

Share Music With a Code and a Camera

The first new feature is visible when you go to the sharing option of a track. You will see a a small horizontal code appear under the cover art of the song. This small, sound wave inspired code is your secret to sharing.

That is all you have to do on the sending end. When you want to read a code from your phone all you have to do is go to the search tab of Spotify. A small Camera icon will be visible in the search bar. Click on that and once you give Spotify the necessary permissions an in app camera will pop up allowing you to read the sound wave icons!

It is definitely a step in the right direction to help share music more easily and without the need to data usage of sending texts/sharing on socials. It is interesting to see Snapchat again get copied in terms of sharing specific codes.
