Sebastian Ingrosso

Sebastian Ingrosso is one of the founding architects of modern festival house music. Born in Stockholm in 1983, the Swedish DJ and producer got his start early, releasing his first remix through Mega Records back in 1999 and launching his own label, Refune Music, in 2003. But it’s what came next that made him a household name in dance music.

In late 2008, Ingrosso teamed up with Axwell and Steve Angello to form Swedish House Mafia, the supergroup that helped push big-room house into the mainstream and turned festival closing sets into cultural moments. As one-third of that trio, Ingrosso had a hand in anthems like “Don’t You Worry Child,” which topped charts in Sweden, Australia, and the UK. Swedish House Mafia played their farewell show at Ultra Music Festival Miami in 2013 before reuniting on that same Ultra stage in 2018, cementing their status as one of dance music’s most legendary acts.

Outside of the group, Ingrosso has built a solid solo and collaborative catalog of his own. His track “Calling (Lose My Mind),” made with Alesso and Ryan Tedder, went 2x Platinum in Sweden, and he’s linked up with names like David Guetta and Tommy Trash over the years. After Swedish House Mafia’s initial split, Ingrosso partnered with Axwell to form Axwell Λ Ingrosso, debuting at Governors Ball 2014 and scoring a number one hit in Sweden with 2015’s “Sun Is Shining.”

Ingrosso has kept working steadily in the years since, staying connected to the sound he helped build while dance music evolved around him. In July 2025, he released “A New Day,” a remix of Celine Dion’s 2002 classic “A New Day Has Come,” showing he’s still finding new ways to put his stamp on familiar songs.

From Refune Music to Swedish House Mafia to his solo work, Sebastian Ingrosso’s fingerprints are all over the sound of modern EDM. Decades into his career, he’s still one of the names that defined what a festival headliner is supposed to sound like.
