MitiS

MitiS makes melodic bass music with a classical backbone. Real name Joseph Torre, the Pennsylvania-born producer trained as a classical pianist and performed at Carnegie Hall and Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center before ever touching a DAW — and that formal training shows in how melodic and emotionally layered his productions are, even when the bass hits hard.

Signed to Ophelia Records, MitiS has built a catalog defined by full-length statements rather than one-off singles. His Foundations EP landed in 2016, followed by the album Til The End in 2018 and Lost in 2021. He kept the momentum going with the Memories EP in 2023 before releasing Unity in February 2024, his third full studio album and a project that pulled together his melodic bass sound with a run of high-profile collaborators.

Over the years MitiS has linked up with some of the biggest names in melodic bass and dubstep, including Seven Lions on “Break The Silence,” Jason Ross, and RØRY on “Try,” along with collaborations alongside Ray Volpe, Linney, Amidy, and Crystal Skies. That list alone says a lot about where MitiS sits in the genre — a go-to collaborator for artists who care as much about melody as they do about drops.

To support Unity, MitiS took his live show across North America with a supporting cast that included Blastoyz, Haliene, Nurko, and Yetep, bringing his emotionally driven productions to bigger stages and proving the album translated live. Outside of his main project, he’s also quietly run Ruins, a separate outlet on SoundCloud that lets him experiment away from the MitiS name.

Off stage, MitiS is married with a son, and that sense of groundedness seems to feed directly into the music — tracks that reach for big emotional swings without losing the melodic clarity that’s defined his sound since day one. A decade-plus into his career, MitiS remains one of melodic bass’s most consistent voices, someone who treats piano-trained songwriting instincts as seriously as sound design.
