Justice
If you’ve ever seen a giant light-up cross towering over a stage, you already know who Justice is. The French duo — Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay — have been the coolest guys in the room since the early 2000s, and they’ve never really let go of that title.
It all started with a remix. Back in 2003 they entered a Paris radio station contest with a reworking of Simian’s “Never Be Alone,” and the track blew up so hard on the club and blog circuit that it eventually got a proper release as “We Are Your Friends” in 2006. That was enough to land them on Ed Banger Records, the label that basically became ground zero for French electro’s second wave.
Then came † (also known as Cross), their 2007 debut album, and with it “D.A.N.C.E.” — the song that turned Justice into a full-blown phenomenon. Disco strings, gospel-choir-style vocals, a bassline that hits like a sledgehammer, and that cross logo plastered on everything. It wasn’t just a hit, it was an aesthetic. Two years later they picked up a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording thanks to their remix of MGMT’s “Electric Feel,” proving the acclaim wasn’t a fluke.
From there, Justice kept building their own lane: heavier, riff-driven, unapologetically maximalist dance music that owes as much to Metallica as it does to Daft Punk. Audio, Video, Disco dropped in 2011, followed by Woman in 2016 — a slicker, more disco-leaning record that still slapped just as hard live.
After more than seven years away from full-length releases, Justice came back in 2024 with Hyperdrama, a genuinely stacked comeback featuring Tame Impala, Miguel, Thundercat, and Connan Mockasin. The album kicked off with “One Night/All Night” and “Generator,” rolled out singles like “Incognito,” “Saturnine,” “Neverender,” and “Mannequin Love,” and got Justice back onto festival mainstages starting with a Coachella set in April 2024. “Neverender,” their collab with Tame Impala, went on to win the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording — their second Grammy win as a group.
They’re not slowing down behind the scenes either. In early 2025, Justice co-produced “Wake Me Up” for The Weeknd’s album Hurry Up Tomorrow, further proof that two decades in, they’re still one of the most in-demand pairs of ears in the game.
Whether it’s the wall-of-amps live show, the cross, or just that unmistakable low end, Justice built a world of their own — and they’re still expanding it.
