If you’ve been anywhere near a festival stage or a Beatport chart in the last few years, you already know HUGEL’s name even if you didn’t clock it. The French producer, born Florent Hugel in Marseille, picked up DJing at 16 after falling hard for Daft Punk, Carl Cox, and Laurent Garnier — the kind of trio that basically guarantees you end up making house music for a living.

HUGEL’s real breakout came in 2018 with his remix of El Profesor’s “Bella Ciao.” That track didn’t just do numbers — it became the unofficial summer anthem of Germany that year, went platinum across multiple countries, and has racked up north of 280 million streams. Not bad for a remix. From there he leaned into his signature lane: warm, percussive house with a Latin house and tropical edge that sounds as good on a beach club terrace as it does on a mainstage.

He’s kept the collaborations coming ever since, teaming up with Robin Schulz on “I Believe I’m Fine,” linking with Cumbiafrica for “Morenita,” and landing one of his biggest hits yet in 2024 with “I Adore You” alongside Topic, Arash, and Daecolm. HUGEL hasn’t slowed down heading into 2026. He also cracked the top five on 1001 Tracklists’ Top 100 DJs ranking. Most recently, he’s been sitting near the top of the Beatport charts alongside names like Cloonee and Prospa, proving the tropical house wave he helped popularize still has plenty of momentum. Between his Ibiza residencies and a relentless release schedule, HUGEL has built himself into one of dance music’s most reliable hitmakers — the guy who can take a Latin-flavored groove and turn it into something the entire festival crowd sings back at him.
