Daniel Griffith didn’t start out chasing EDM festival slots — he was a classically trained pianist and guitarist who ended up studying electrical engineering at USC. Funny how that works out. Before “Gryffin” was a name anyone knew, Griffith was already deep in the game as one half of White Panda, the mashup duo he ran with childhood friend Tom Evans from 2009 to 2015. Those mashups blew up on college campuses and early streaming platforms, and by the time White Panda wound down, Griffith had all the tools to go solo.

Enter Gryffin. His 2016 debut single “Heading Home,” featuring Josef Salvat, is the record that put him on the map — it hit No. 22 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and shot to No. 1 on Spotify’s Viral 50. Around the same time, his remixes of tracks by Tove Lo, Maroon 5, and Years & Years were getting passed around like contraband, cementing his rep as a guy who could take someone else’s song and make it sound like his own.

What makes Gryffin’s sound stick is the blend — real piano, real guitar, woven into big melodic house and bass production. It’s electronic music that still feels handmade, which is probably why he’s worked with such a wide range of collaborators over the years: Illenium and Daya on “Feel Good,” Elley Duhé on “Tie Me Down,” and more recently Kygo and Calum Scott on “Woke Up in Love.”

His album run tells the story of an artist who keeps leveling up. Gravity dropped in 2019 as his debut full-length, Alive followed in 2022, and Pulse arrived in 2024 with features from Elderbrook, Disco Lines, and Armin van Buuren — proof he’s just as comfortable in the melodic bass lane as he is crossing into trance-adjacent territory.

Signed to Darkroom/Interscope/Geffen, Gryffin has spent the better part of a decade building a catalog that doesn’t chase trends so much as it just keeps growing. In 2026 he hit the road for the “Ten Years of Music. One Night” tour, marking a decade since he stepped out from behind White Panda and into his own spotlight. For a guy who started out flipping other people’s songs, Gryffin’s turned into one of melodic bass’s most dependable hitmakers — and he’s not slowing down.
