DVBBS

Updated Aug 20, 2026

DVBBS is a Canadian DJ duo who are known for their eclectic mix of EDM, pop, and hip hop. The duo consists of brothers Chris and Alex van den Hoef, who were born and raised in Toronto, Canada. DVBBS began their career by releasing a series of singles and remixes on various electronic music labels. In 2012, they released their debut EP “Initio” on Spinnin’ Records. The following year, they collaborated with Borgeous on the song “Tsunami”, which became a worldwide hit. Since then, DVBBS have released two studio albums and have performed at some of the biggest music festivals in the world, including Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival.

“Tsunami” wasn’t just another big room banger, it was one of THE records of the early 2010s EDM boom. Built with KSHMR and dropped on Tiësto’s Doorn Records in September 2013, the track blew up so fast that BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong had to step in and publicly confirm who’d actually made it. Billboard called it the most-played tune of that year’s Tomorrowland, and the vocal remix featuring Tinie Tempah, “Tsunami (Jump),” rode all the way to number one on the UK Singles Chart in early 2014. Over a decade later, it’s still putting in work outside the clubs, too. The Philadelphia Phillies use it as their home run anthem, and it shows up at hockey games, football games, and just about every festival main stage you can name.

Chris (Chris Chronicles) and Alex (Alex Andre) didn’t stop at one anthem. They kept the big room momentum going with tracks like “Gold Skies” alongside Sander van Doorn and Martin Garrix, “We Were Young,” and “Raveology” with VINAI, while also branching into bassier, vocal-forward territory on cuts like “Not Going Home” with CMC$ and Gia Koka, “Idwk” with Blackbear, and “Tinted Eyes” with Blackbear and 24kGoldn, the proceeds from which went to Black Lives Matter. In 2021, they finally put out their debut studio album, Sleep, giving the duo a proper full-length to sit alongside years of one-off singles.

The brothers haven’t slowed down since. In 2025, “Move a Little Closer” with Abi Flynn topped Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, and in May 2026 they linked up with fellow Canadian export Nelly Furtado for “Torture of the Heart,” a heartbreak anthem wrapped in a big room drop and the first-ever collaboration between the two acts. Add that to years of headline sets at Tomorrowland and Ultra, and it’s safe to say DVBBS are still one of Canada’s biggest names in dance music.
