Chris Lake

Chris Lake has been making people move for two decades now, and he’s still one of the most consistent hitmakers in house music. The UK-born, LA-based producer first popped up on the radar back in 2006 with “Changes” featuring Laura V, a track that cracked the UK Singles Chart and climbed Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay chart. His 2007 follow-up “Carry Me Away” went one better and actually topped that chart. That one-two punch put Chris on the map as a serious dance music force, and he’s basically never left.

What makes Chris Lake stand out is how much he’s evolved without ever losing the plot. He started out making peak-time bangers, then spent years sharpening his sound into something leaner and more minimal, letting the groove do the talking instead of piling on extra noise. Along the way he’s teamed up with some massive names, including a Grammy-nominated collab with Deadmau5, plus work with Steve Aoki and longtime studio partner Chris Lorenzo. His remix of Calvin Harris & Disciples’ “How Deep Is Your Love” picked up serious streaming numbers and became one of those tracks you just couldn’t escape for a while.

In 2017 he launched Black Book Records, and it’s turned into one of the most respected house imprints out there, a home base for his own music and a launchpad for artists coming up behind him. Before Black Book, he ran Rising Music and Rising Trax, and he’s released through heavyweight labels like Nervous Records and Ultra Records too, so the guy’s got range across the whole ecosystem of house music.

He hasn’t slowed down lately either. 2025 brought his album “Chemistry,” a project stacked with collaborations that pull in both rising talent and established names, plus new work alongside Disclosure and Skrillex. Black Book itself has grown into enough of a force that it recently signed with Astralwerks, a move Chris has talked about as a way to take the label to the next level without losing what makes it special.

At this point Chris Lake is basically house music royalty, someone who’s had a hand in shaping the sound for two decades and shows zero signs of coasting. Whether he’s behind the decks, running Black Book, or back in the studio, he’s still chasing the next great groove.
