Chase & Status
Chase & Status have been shaping the sound of UK bass music for two decades, and they’re still doing it at the top of the charts. The duo — Saul Milton (“Chase”) and Will Kennard (“Status”) — met at university in Manchester and started making music together in 2003, blending drum and bass with big beat and hip-hop influences pulled from heroes like The Prodigy and Orbital.
Early support from BBC Radio 1Xtra helped get their name out, but it was 2010’s “End Credits,” featuring Plan B, that gave them their first UK Top 40 hit and proved they could cross over without losing the edge that made them a D&B force in the first place. From there, the albums kept coming: No More Idols in 2011, Brand New Machine in 2013, Tribe in 2017, What Came Before in 2022, and 2 Ruff, Vol. 1 in 2023 — a record that hit chart numbers few UK dance acts ever see.
Live, Chase & Status bring a full band energy to the rave, with longtime touring drummer Andy Gangadeen behind the kit since 2009 and Takura fronting the show since 2022. Their studio work has landed them in rooms with some of the biggest names in music — Rihanna, Stormzy, CeeLo Green, Tinie Tempah, and Example, among others, with production credits across multiple Rihanna albums and a UK number-one for Rita Ora.
They kept that momentum rolling in 2024 with “Backbone,” featuring Stormzy, which went straight to number one in the UK, and they picked up their first-ever Brit Award for Producer of the Year off the back of it. In 2025, they brought their RTRN II DANCE show to All Points East, headlining with an exclusive takeover built entirely around their dancefloor-first roots.
More than twenty years in, Chase & Status haven’t slowed down — they’ve just found new rooms to fill. Between the chart hits, the festival headline slots, and a catalog that spans nearly every corner of UK bass culture, they remain one of the genre’s most reliable hitmakers.
