Cash Cash has one of the more unlikely arcs in dance music, evolving from a scrappy New Jersey pop-rock act into a genuine EDM hitmaking machine. The trio, made up of brothers Jean Paul and Alex Makhlouf along with Sam Frisch, formed in Roseland, New Jersey, back in 2008 after rebranding from an earlier project called “the Consequence” over a trademark dispute. Their early sound leaned emo-pop and synthpop, but as the 2010s rolled in, Cash Cash rebuilt themselves as an electronic act, and the timing couldn’t have been better.

Their real breakthrough came with “Take Me Home” featuring Bebe Rexha in 2013, a track that climbed to No. 14 on the US Pop Songs chart and eventually went Platinum with the RIAA. From there, Cash Cash became one of the most in-demand collaborators in the pop-EDM crossover space, working with Pink on “Can We Pretend,” teaming up with Wiz Khalifa, Lukas Graham, Nelly, and Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik, plus remixing heavyweights like Britney Spears and Bruno Mars. Their sound settled into a mix of progressive house and electro house with big pop songwriting instincts underneath, which is exactly why their records translated so well to both club and radio.

Across five studio albums, from “Take It to the Floor” in 2008 through “Say It Like You Feel It” in 2021, Cash Cash has made stops at Universal Republic, Big Beat/Atlantic, and most recently Ultra Records under Sony Music since 2022. Their staying power showed again in 2024 when their “Tell It to My Heart” remix won Remake of the Year at the Electronic Dance Music Awards.

The trio also became a fixture in Las Vegas, holding down a residency at Zouk Nightclub from 2021 to 2025, and between the residency and their touring schedule, they’ve now logged over 1,000 live performances worldwide as of 2026. More than 15 years into their run, Cash Cash has managed something a lot of acts can’t: staying relevant across multiple eras of dance music without ever losing their pop instincts.
