Alok isn’t just one of Brazil’s biggest musical exports—he’s arguably the most consistent hitmaker in mainstream dance music over the last decade. Born Alok Achkar Peres Petrillo in Goiânia, Brazil, back in 1991, he grew up around music—both his parents were DJs—and started producing as a teenager, blending house and future house with the bright, percussive energy of Brazilian bass. That homegrown sound is basically his signature now—festival-ready, radio-friendly, and impossible not to move to.

The record that put him on the map worldwide was 2016’s “Hear Me Now,” a collab with Bruno Martini and Zeeba that went gold and platinum in multiple countries and turned Alok from a domestic star into a global one. Since then he’s been an absolute collaboration machine, linking up with everyone from Steve Aoki and Felix Jaehn to Bastille, Ella Eyre, and John Legend. More recently he’s kept that momentum going with team-ups alongside Bebe Rexha, Anitta, and even trance royalty Armin van Buuren—proof he’s just as comfortable on the main stage as he is crossing genre lines.

Label-wise, Alok has built out a real ecosystem around himself. He’s released through Spinnin’ Records and Warner Music, runs his own imprint UP Club Records, and co-created Controversia as a partnership project. That kind of infrastructure is part of why he’s stayed so prolific—he’s not waiting around for someone else’s release schedule.

The accolades back up the hype. Alok landed at number four on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list for four straight years from 2021 to 2024, then pushed even further to number three in 2025, his highest ranking yet. Back home, House Mag named him Best DJ in Brazil in both 2014 and 2015, and Forbes Brasil tapped him as one of the country’s most influential people under 30 back in 2017.

What makes Alok stand out isn’t just the chart numbers, though—it’s the range. He can headline a stadium-sized EDM set one night and hop on a soundtrack placement or a pop collab the next, all while staying rooted in that Brazilian bass foundation that started it all. Well over a decade into his career, he’s still releasing new music at a steady clip and showing no signs of slowing down.
