Gorillaz is a British virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The band is composed of four cartoon characters: 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. These characters are animated in music videos and live performances, and they have also been featured in a range of merchandise, including trading cards, T-shirts, and toys. The band's unique approach to music has earned them worldwide acclaim, and their self-titled debut album was nominated for the 2001 Mercury Prize. Gorillaz has released six studio albums to date, selling over 26 million copies worldwide.
