Diplo gave one hell of an in depth interview with GQ this past week. In the interview he spoke about his attempt to get Rihanna on a Major Lazer track as a vocalist. In his first attempt she just plainly said:
“I don't do house music”
Kind of a weird response for an artist who has several hit house singles with Calvin Harris. Diplo apparently ramped up the efforts a little bit during a recording session with Future, Metro Boomin and The Weeknd. He said that the energy in the room was palpable and after all the other artists shared their productions Diplo was finally talked into playing something for Rihanna. Her response? “This sounds like a reggae song at an airport”. Diplo said internally he just thought, “haha okay I am going to go kill myself”.
So that says it fans. Do not hold your breath for a collaboration between Diplo and Riri anytime soon.
