Trance is not a genre it is a lifestyle. Fans of this specific style of dance music are beautiful passionate people. Throughout the years there have been many battles within the segmented population that make up fans of EDM. Surviving the dubstep explosion and the house heads vs. trancer wars of the mid to late 2000’s Trance has stayed true to what it always was all about… appreciation for feeling good.
Reddfield, with his self-titled EP, released on Jaytechs label Positronic, has spent a week at #1 Trance on Beatport. Reddfield also known as Jay Redd is a songwriter/producer who takes time away from being a professional filmmaker to share his music with the world. His EP encompasses all that is trance music. Heavy hitting kicks and powerful bass lines that lay underneath atmospheric synths and wonderful melodies.
Beneath the Ribbons may be my personal favorite track on the EP not only because the song can easily be part of the next “Group Therapy” but because it was written about a moment I unknowingly shared with Reddfield In New York City at Above and Beyond’s ABGT100 at Madison Square Garden. While I was in amazement staring down at a group of people who were dancing under a magnificent array of colorful spinning ribbons, he was under them staring up and was inspired enough to write a breathtaking song about it.
Whether it’s the uplifting harder hitting tracks such as Pulse or Circulate, the progressive feel to Beneath the Ribbons or the chill factor to London Longing this EP has something for every music lover. See for yourself below.
