Paul van Dyk Awarded $12 Million Dollars After 2016 ASOT Stage Accident

In 2016, Paul van Dyk was playing A State of Trance in The Netherlands. He had no idea that the set would change his life forever. When Paul stood up on the table containing his decks, as he did in every show before, he fell. He was not informed of a dangerous hole that was covered by a black cloth.

The fall caused van Dyk to sustain permanent brain damage and a serious spinal injury. Paul took the event organizers to court, and the arguments were heard in September of last year. After over two years of injury rehab, Paul was awarded $12 million in damages for medical bills as well as lost wages during his lengthy recovery.

Even after many tour dates being canceled, and an album being pushed back, Paul van Dyk is back once again playing shows and releasing his signature brand of euphoric trance. We are happy to hear that Paul van Dyk got what he deserved in this court proceeding and hope that this sets a precedent for event organizers moving forward.
