Illenium has steadily been taking over the world of dance music with his incredible brand of emotional yet heavy music. He has seamlessly bridged the gap between the Excisions and Adventure Clubs of the world. In 2018, Illenium started to be more candid about his past, in particular, his struggles with opiate addiction.
Illenium released the beautiful song dedicated to his mother, ‘Take You Down' in early August. The track was a sonic representation of how his addiction drove his family away, and they resisted and stood by him through the entire ordeal. Illenium also spoke candidly about his opiate overdose and how he slowly recaptured his life. It was an incredibly important message as the new level of visibility addiction has received by the media has also brought with it much confusion by the general public.
