Two of dance music’s longest-serving workhorses just picked a side in the AI debate. Armin van Buuren and Laidback Luke have signed on as advisors to Moises, the AI-powered music practice and production app, as part of its newly launched Artist Partnerships program, according to the company’s announcement this week.

If you haven’t crossed paths with Moises yet, it’s not one of those text-prompt-to-finished-song generators. The app — which the company says has around 80 million users — is built for people who actually play and produce: stem separation, practice tools, mixing help. Moises says it runs 50 proprietary AI models trained exclusively on licensed content, a distinction that matters a lot right now given the lawsuits stacking up against generative music companies. It was Apple’s iPad App of the Year in 2024, has partnered with Ableton Live and Fender’s Studio Pro DAW, and recently brought Charlie Puth aboard as Chief Music Officer.

So what will the two Dutchmen actually do? Per the announcement, they’ll weigh in on product decisions and give feedback on how the tools fit into real DJ and producer workflows. “What matters is whether the artist stays in control,” Armin said in a statement, adding that he’s “excited to help build tools that make producers faster.” Luke’s take was classic Luke: “The best tools do not do the work for you. They help you hear more, learn faster.”

That framing — AI as a practice partner rather than a ghost producer — is pretty consistent with how both artists operate. Armin has spent 2026 championing new talent, most recently teaming up with rising producer ASTRON4UT, while Luke has built a whole second career out of mentoring — when he’s not teaching free rooftop kung fu in Brooklyn, anyway.

Expect more of this, not less. As AI tools split into “replaces the artist” and “serves the artist” camps, the second camp is going to keep collecting credible names — and having the guy who’s hosted A State of Trance for 25 years vouch for your artist-first mission is about as credible as it gets.
