Lane 8 Brings His Fall Mixtape Show to San Francisco’s Castro Theatre

Lane 8’s mixtape tradition is going to the movies. The Denver-based producer announced Wednesday that his next “I Made You A Mixtape” live event lands in California — Lane 8: I Made You A Mixtape — September 20, 2026, at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco — with presale access opening the day after the announcement.

If you’re new here: Lane 8 has been dropping seasonal mixtapes for over a decade, and they’ve become one of dance music’s most reliable rituals. Every few months, a couple hours of melodic, deep, feelings-forward selections show up and quietly soundtrack everyone’s commutes, flights, and late-night walks for the season. Turning the mixtape into a live event is a newer move — the summer edition went down at the Mishawaka Amphitheatre in Colorado back in June — and now the fall installment gets a proper theater in one of the West Coast’s most storied rooms.

The Castro is a fascinating choice, too. A nearly century-old San Francisco movie palace isn’t your typical dance music venue, but that’s kind of the point. These mixtape shows sit closer to a listening experience than a rager, and Lane 8 has long been the guy who asks crowds to put their phones away and actually be present. A seated-era cinema with grand acoustics fits that ethos better than a warehouse ever could.

It also caps a big year for his This Never Happened label, which has been celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a Summer Gathering in the UK, North American dates, and the collaborative “Cross Pollination” b2b concept. Ten years of TNH, a decade-plus of mixtapes — the man is nothing if not consistent.
