Tommy Phillips’ “Sun Is Shining (Lovelee Dae)” Crashes the Beatport Top Five
UK producer Tommy Phillips has stormed to No. 4 on the Beatport Top 100 with "Sun is Shining (Lovelee Dae)," a Beatport-exclusive house cut nodding to Blaze's 1997 classic.
Remember how we said we’d keep watching the Beatport Top 100 so you don’t have to? Good news: it delivered over the weekend. A UK producer named Tommy Phillips just rocketed into the top five with “Sun is Shining (Lovelee Dae),” a house cut that didn’t even exist on the chart when we ran through the full top 10 last Wednesday. As of Monday morning it’s sitting at No. 4, ahead of Route 94’s Mellizos rework and SAPIAN’s “Reason Why.” Not bad for a record that came out August 19.
So what is this thing? It’s a 130 BPM house track on Safelight Records, and right now it’s a Beatport exclusive — you can’t stream it on the usual platforms yet, which makes its chart run even more impressive. Every one of those chart points is a DJ actually paying for the record. The title, if you’ve been around house music long enough, should ring a bell: it stitches together the most famous line from Blaze’s 1997 classic “Lovelee Dae” — “it’s a lovelee dae, and the sun is shining” — one of the most beloved vocals the genre ever produced. Given that the current top 10 includes a 1997 Ultra Naté vocal at No. 1 and a 1993 Wu-Tang flip at No. 2, a nod to golden-era house isn’t just welcome. It’s apparently the winning formula of summer 2026.
And who’s Tommy Phillips? He’s not a total unknown, just an artist who’s been building quietly. Beatport’s own bio calls him one of the UK’s most exciting emerging talents, with a sound that merges early Chicago house with breakbeat energy and big vocal hooks. His biggest look before this came in March 2025, when deadmau5 and Kaskade handed him the keys to “I Remember” for an official mau5trap remix — yes, that “I Remember.” He’s also landed a single, “Million Things,” through Warner Records. This, though, is the first time he’s had a record of his own tearing up the main chart.
It’s been a chaotic stretch at the top of Beatport in general. Max Styler’s “Body Shake” cracked the top 10 on Friday, and by Monday the board had already reshuffled again, with Kolter’s “Hey Everybody” slipping out and Phillips barging in. Groove-first house is still running the table, artist-owned labels are still everywhere, and classic vocals still win. Some things you can set your watch to.
Keep an eye on this one — if “Sun is Shining (Lovelee Dae)” gets a full streaming release, it has real crossover-summer-anthem energy written all over it. We’ll let you know when it does.
