NGHTMRE and Jordin Sparks Turn “No Air” Into a Drum & Bass Anthem
NGHTMRE's melodic drum & bass rework of "No Air" is out on Gud Vibrations — with Jordin Sparks re-recording her vocals and the Chris Brown feature gone.

Remember belting “No Air” into a hairbrush back in 2008? NGHTMRE just handed you a reason to do it again — this time over melodic drum & bass. The Gud Vibrations boss released his official rework of Jordin Sparks’ Grammy-nominated hit on Friday, and this isn’t some gray-area bootleg: Sparks re-recorded her vocals for it herself.
According to the announcement, NGHTMRE spent months building the flip before the track ever reached Sparks — and once it did, she sent her re-recorded demo back within days. Notably, the Chris Brown verses from the original are gone entirely. This version is all Jordin, her vocal wrapped in warm pianos and euphoric builds before the whole thing takes off at drum & bass tempo.
“Opening that file and hearing her voice on the track for the first time was a moment I’ll never forget,” NGHTMRE said of getting the vocals back. He added that Sparks told him plenty of people had pitched remixes of the song over the years — “and this was the only one that felt right.”
If the drop feels familiar, that’s because the two already road-tested it. NGHTMRE premiered the rework at ILLfest in Austin back in May with Sparks on stage singing it live, and clips of that moment pulled in over 20 million views across socials before the track ever hit streaming, according to the release announcement.
The original “No Air” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination, so this is real pop canon getting the bass treatment. And it isn’t Sparks’ first step onto the dance floor either — she linked with AVELLO on “We Own the Night” in 2025. For NGHTMRE, it’s another swing in the melodic direction he’s been exploring ever since the UNSOUND EP era, and further proof that the Gud Vibrations camp he runs with SLANDER will happily blur genre lines when the song calls for it.
Is a nostalgic pop flip an easy win? Sure. But when the original artist re-cuts her vocal and shows up to perform it live, it stops being a remix and starts being a proper second life. “No Air” is out now on Gud Vibrations.
