Tiësto Turns KUKO’s Hard Techno Hit ‘Voicemail’ Into a Trance Moment

Tiësto remixing a hard techno record wasn’t on everyone’s 2026 bingo card, but here we are — and it works. The legend’s official remix of KUKO’s “Voicemail” dropped Friday, taking one of hard techno’s biggest breakout tracks and bathing it in the kind of shimmering, trance-leaning synth work Tiësto built his name on.
If KUKO isn’t on your radar yet, fix that. The Cologne-based producer has become one of the faces of hard techno’s new wave, and “Voicemail” — originally released in 2024 with INNERGATED — is the track that did a lot of that heavy lifting, racking up millions of streams on the strength of its eerie voicemail sample and industrial-but-emotional production. That combination of punishing kicks and actual feelings is exactly what’s made the sound blow up with younger crowds.
Tiësto clearly got it. “From the moment I heard this track, I knew I needed to make a Tiësto remix,” he said in the announcement. “I loved the atmosphere and mood in it, but it was missing the Tiësto feel. Now, after remixing it, I personally think the record is perfect.” Modest as ever, Tijs. The remix keeps the voicemail sample and the relentless low end but layers in melody until the whole thing opens up — less warehouse, more mainstage sunset.
He’d been teasing it live before the release, too — he debuted the remix during his EDC Las Vegas set earlier this year, according to the announcement, and fan clips of the drop have been floating around ever since.
The timing here isn’t random either. KUKO’s debut album Catharsis arrives September 25, and he’s currently selling out shows across Europe with his “All Night Long” solo format. Getting a co-sign of this size a month before your debut album is about as good as promo gets — and for Tiësto, who’s spent the last few years living in pop-house territory, it’s a fun reminder that he still keeps one ear pressed firmly to the underground.
