Max Styler’s ‘Body Shake’ Cracks the Beatport Top 10

There’s a new name in the Beatport Top 10 this week, and it’s a satisfying one: Max Styler’s “Body Shake” has climbed to No. 10 on the Top 100, the lone new entry in an upper chart that’s otherwise barely moved since our full top-10 rundown on Wednesday.
What makes this one worth celebrating is how Styler got here. “Body Shake” is the opening track from I Don’t Think I Can Stop, the six-track EP he released August 11 on Nu Moda — his own label. No major-label machine, no massive feature, just a groover strong enough that DJs kept reaching for it until the chart caught up. In a top 10 currently ruled by artist-run imprints like No Art, Maccabi House and Hellbent, a self-released Nu Moda record fits the moment perfectly.
If you’ve followed dance music long enough, you might remember Styler from a very different era. The California producer came up in the Dim Mak orbit — that Steve Aoki, Deorro and MAKJ collab “Shakalaka” was a 2018 festival staple — before reinventing himself as one of the most reliable house producers on the West Coast, with releases on Insomniac Records along the way. Nu Moda is the latest chapter, and “Body Shake” charting this high suggests the bet on himself is paying off.
The track itself doesn’t overcomplicate anything: a rolling bassline, a hypnotic vocal chop telling you to do exactly what the title says, and the kind of clean, chunky drums that sound great at 2 a.m. Styler has said the EP was built to show “a bit more of the journey” than his usual in-your-face singles, and “Body Shake” is the thesis statement — patient, warm and relentlessly danceable.
There’s movement at the very top, too: the Michael Bibi, KETTAMA and Wu-Tang Clan flip “MYSTERY OF RAW” has swapped places with Ultra Naté, HUGEL and Imael Angel’s “Movin’ To The Sun” to take over No. 1. Beyond that, the standings are basically frozen — Cloonee and Prospa still appear twice each. The only casualty was Kolter’s “Hey Everybody (Back In The Dance),” which slipped out to make room for Styler.
