VVAVES Shares Her Musical Guilty Pleasures

The new single from Canada's VVAVES has left us desperate to hear more from her stunning voice. Whilst we wait for a follow up to the magnificent “Alive,” she shares her five Musical Guilty Pleasures with us.

1) Shaggy – “Angel”

Shaggy was the first concert I ever went to when I was eight years old. I remember he put the Mic down his pants…

2) Christina Aguilera – “Dirrty”

I remember getting the “Stripped” CD and dancing in my room to it. I still feel kinda inappropriate when I listen to it now because it’s so hyper-sexualized and I didn’t even understand it back then.

3) 3OH3 – “DONTTRUSTME”

Me and my best friend knew every word to this song and had dance moves to go along with it, we used to go to rock concerts at The Pavillion which was the only underage music venue in my hometown. It felt like we were living the lyrics, but we weren’t at all. And it’s produced by Benny Blanco, who is an idol for sure.

4) Taylor Swift – “Love Story”

This came out in 2008 and I used to request it all the time on the radio. I was 13 and probably heartbroken and dreaming of boys on white horses coming to save me… I love the way Taylor tells stories, back then and now still. It’s almost not guilty because I respect her so much as a songwriter.

5) The Verve – “Bitter Sweet Symphony”

Always makes me feel like I’m in a movie.
