A German court has ruled, organisers of the widely popular event have been ordered to stand trial after a horrific stampede which claimed 21 lives in 2010. Ten people, four of which were event organisers, while 6 were municipal staff will be brought to trial as they face charges of manslaughter and negligence.
The incident saw more than 500 people injured as attendees tried to pass through the only entrance tunnel. It is believed that the event’s capacity was capped at 250,000 however there were reportedly around 500,000 partygoers in attendance. While the festival had a positive legacy prior to the stampede, The incident saw the Love Parade festival cancelled for for good.
