As ABC 10 reports, Brittany Hickman recently filed a lawsuit against famous DJ Steve Aoki (and the Hard Rock San Diego) for breaking her neck at a show three years ago in Southern California. In the video below, you can see most of what happened. For most fans who know of Aoki's concerts, there tends to be some wild antics – and Hickman literally got caught in the middle of one.
“I don't remember too much because I was knocked unconscious,” Hickman says. “He jumped off the top of the stage into the pool raft… I had been trapped underneath the pool raft because they threw it out right where I was standing. My friends told me that he pretty much landed on top of the pool raft, hit me on top of the head – got knocked over, didn't get up.”
The video shows the predicament – with Aoki jumping from a tall scaffolding and causing the raft to cave in severely, which suggests a strong impact.
In a follow up, ABC contacted Aoki's Lawyer for a comment. He replied with this statement:
“Thank you for your inquiry. As you know I am the attorney representing Mr. Aoki. This matter arises out of an incident which occurred at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, three years ago. In addition to Mr. Aoki, Ms. Hickman is also suing Hard Rock. Trial in this matter is scheduled for August 28, 2015 before Judge Pressman of the San Diego Superior Court. Because of the ongoing litigation and the pending trial date it would not be appropriate for us to respond to your inquiry at this time or permit an interview.”
Hickman was apparently in the hospital for three days and spent 2 months out of work. Medics at the event didn't seem to help, either. Trial is set for August 2015.
Check out the video below to follow the story and this follow up story from ABC as well. Aoki is currently not on tour, set to undergo surgery for his vocal chords – a procedure which he's prolonged.
