Support Bridges For Music With OWSLA’s Nestivus Drive, Holiday Offers

The record label OWSLA continues to spread plenty of cheer this holiday season with a big heart and open arms. 2014 marks their second annual Nestivus Charity Drive and there are plenty of new ways for fans to get involved and support a great cause.

Bridges For Music is a non-profit organization in Cape Town, South Africa, that's creating a place for kids to develop their skills and further their passion for music through schooling and workshops. Their mission statement explains, “We believe electronic music is a universal language that can be used to break down socio-economic boundaries. Music and artists can help bridge the extensive gap that exists between the rich and the poor as well as between diferent races in developing countries.”

Right now you can contribute to Bridges For Music in many ways including subscribing to OWSLA on Drip.fm for a limited time offer of $9.00. Subscribing will also earn a copy of OWSLA's first 28-track compilation, “OWSLA Presents: Eggnog (with their hottest releases of the year),” in addition to 24 other free giveaways leading up to Christmas. You can enter to win Sonos speakers, Headphones worn by Skrillex, and other new material from OWSLA artists.

Last year, proceeds from new subscribers helped OWSLA raise about $8,000 for Bridges For Music. The label is currently working on helping the Langa Music School in the Langa township. Skrillex hosted a free workshop there last year with 12th Planet and has kept the organization close to home. OWSLA's label manager Blaise DeAngelo explained, “They've sort of become the official charity partner of OWSLA.”

On Monday, OWSLA will also be live-streaming its holiday party to get more people involved. On site, door donations and a percentage of bar sales will also go towards Bridges for Music.

DeAngelo added, “Anything that sits at the intersection of youth, music, art and charity is pretty much something we want to be involved in.”

He also mentioned the support on Drip was crucial during this past year by saying “As a label, we have quite a high creative output, so our (Drip) subscribers are already well catered for. But the extra treats, music, and competitions that Nestivus provided was seen as a real bonus and welcomed with open arms.”
