Vital & Midnite Events Present Sunrise 2014 [Event Review]

Vital & Midnite Events teamed up once again to give the Bay Area the 4th installment of Sunrise. With last years bass-heavy line up including Datsik, Doctor P, Pegboard Nerds and more, this year spread the electronic genres across the map. The Bay Area was in for a treat with the lineup featuring DVBBS, Will Sparks, Cookie Monsta, Snails and more which had a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Sunrise1

Opening up the night was Bay Area's very own Alexx Adam & Sam F. Sam F has taken the scene by storm since co-creating the popular Turn Up To Death which was featured on a Saturday Night Live skit. Both Alexx Adam & Sam F have played a big part in the Bay Areas scene that has no slowing down any time soon. As the local artists were ending, Trollphace & JuJu were taking the stage to annihilate the crowd. Trollphace has gotten big recognition over the past year with shout outs from Skrillex and recently releasing an original remix on OWSLA Records. Bass heads through out chanted in joy for Trollphace to come on as they were soon trampled with the heavy bass that was soon to follow. Throwing out original tracks like Yabba Dabs, Leave It Yeah, along with the recent Heartbreaker Remix, the bass heads in the crowd were definitely in for a treat.

Sunrise2

Soon to follow was LA based artist CRNKN who gave the crowd exactly what they wanted. Banger after banger with huge trap anthems and personal remixes, the crowd was loving every second of it. During each minute of his set you could look into the crowd with smiles gleaming as big as ever. As his set was ending, Snails was preparing to take over the stage. Hailing from Canada, SNAILS has only recently started playing in the USA after his debut at this years HARD Summer. He played an incredible genre defying set with everything from gnarly dubstep to bouncy tracks that would get anyone moving. Going through his #Vomitstep and throwing out his recent STOMP track which will be out on Kannibalen Records September 17th had the place rattling.

Sunrise3

Circus Records' Cookie Monsta lead the way to continue the bass fueled night. The dubstep legend left no mercy during his set as he left the crowd craving for more. Picking out tracks on the go like Squid Attack and Yo Momma's Ass practically made the place crumble. Cookie Monsta made the place go absolutely nuts, especially when ending his set throwing cookies into the crowd.

Sunrise4

Leading into a completely different vibe, Will Sparks gave the crowd the Melbourne bounce they were all waiting for. The Australian producer was astonished to have such a good reaction from the crowd playing his first set in San Jose. The crowd was dancing, shuffling, singing along to the whole set that gave a euphoric rush to everyone that was there. As his set was coming to a close DVBBS took the stage the end the night.

Sunrise6

Die hard fans waited in the front of the stage all night for the brothers to give it their best. As the guys from Spinnin' Records played tracks like Gold Skies, We Were Young and of course the major Tsunami, it showed that no matter how crazy touring gets, they still play every set as if it was their last. Bouncing around from city to city, country to country, it's no wonder that the demands for these guys are so high. They kept the night going till the music stopped and let another successful installment of Sunrise come to a close.

A huge thanks to both crews for giving EDM Sauce a chance to be there. Sunrise 2014 was another great year for both Vital & Midnite events. Teaming up with Safe & Sound, they are combining forces on October 25th to bring the Bay Area another insane night at the San Jose Civic Center. So far with Destroid, Adventure Club, and Flux Pavilion, the lineup is just starting with more acts to be announced. Ticket's are on sale now for what's to be another successful night.
