Kaskade Got Deep at Output

Last night Kaskade kicked off his latest venture, The Redux Tour, at Output in Brooklyn. Output was kind enough to invite EDM Sauce out to be part of the inaugural performance. The tour centers around intimate venues and the appreciation of music. Kaskade envisioned creating a tour where the focus was not on light shows or massive festival drops, but a return to the purity of what dance music once was. Last night made it very clear that he thoroughly succeed in bringing his dream to fruition. In addition, he could have no picked a better place to start off his tour as Output. Output does not believe in dress codes, VIP, bottle service, or even photographs, they want an audience who is there for the music not the lifestyle.

Output is small. The club is two stories with an intimate dance floor as the first floor and a balcony as the second. There are several bars throughout the venue, and a roof top smoking/cool down area. Though the venue is small, the sound system packs an incredible punch that is unlike anything else in the city. Last night Output was packed with a sold out crowd. Some attendees started lining up for the few available tickets at the door six hours before they went on sale. Needless to say that the atmosphere was buzzing with total excitement.

Moto X Launch Event

Kaskade took to the decks at 12:30 and started his set off with a bang. The legend knew exactly how to fill the crowd with contagious energy. He seamlessly blended a set of deep house, as the sound system and environment of Output only added to the satisfaction of the entire experience. Kaskade played a wide range of tracks including classics like ‘Angel On My Shoulder', a deep edit of his hit ‘Last Chance', and other recent hits such as Jack Beat's ‘Beatbox' and even Pryda's rework of the controversial ‘Allein'. As the bass kicked and night progressed it was clear that Kaskade successfully took the collective personal worries of the crowd and turned them over to the music. It was common to see people wiping away tears as they fully comprehended what they were a part of.

It seemed just as the night began, 3:30 hit and Kaskade slowly brought the crowd back to earth as he wrapped up his set. Alex English then came on the decks to play the night's closing set. At this point several people decided to head home to take advantage of the rest of the night and salvage what little sleep they could before the alarm clock went off and the daily responsibilities of Wednesday brought them back to reality. Even with the sold out crowd, the staff at Output was efficient and professional. Coat check and bar service were both fast and affordable. Besides the unavoidable chaos of a sizable crowd waiting to enter a venue, the night could not have gone any smoother.

If Kaskade is bringing his Redux Tour to a city near you and for some inexplicable reason it has not yet sold out, buy tickets immediately. Like seriously, now. This is the kind of things that should not be put off. Also, if you are in or around the New York City area and have not checked out Output yet, they have a killer schedule lined up for the beginning of the summer.
