Wu-Tang Clan Will Only Sell One Copy Of Their Special Album

The production of special edition forms of media and art are not uncommon today; from special edition video game consoles to collectible magazine covers, various groups attempt to differentiate their products to promote the idea of a unique and rare item. The hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan is set on selling only a single copy of their special album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin with the central notion that music is a form of art. This album, not the same one as their 20th anniversary album, will tour the world from art galleries to music events just...

Major Lazer – Aerosol ft. Pharrell Williams

Welcome to the wonderfully eclectic world of Major Lazer. After debuting Aerosol Can with a Smokey the Bear hat-wearing Pharrell at Holy Ship, Major Lazer released the studio version this week. With a simple, syncopated, and jungle influenced rhythm, the cartoonish (think South Park, not Dora) song is meant to accentuate Pharrell’s long-lost, and always eccentric, rhyming technique. No drop, no build up, just a basic off-beat hook designed for your aural pleasure....

Bassrush & Blasted Events Headline Hucci at Lot 613

Insomniac sub-brand Bassrush and Blasted Events brought a heavy bass and trap show to Lot 613 in downtown Los Angeles Saturday night. Tickets were $37 after fees for a lineup consisting of Louisiana Jones, Eze, Kickraux, UFO!, Hucci, and Party Favor. Parking outside is $5-10 in secured lots. While there was open spaces parking within walking distance, I did pass by a police officer investigating a broken car window of a concertgoer that was smashed in during the show. Something to consider when you decide whether or not to pay for parking at...

Bishop Nehru – You Stressin’ (Produced by. Disclosure)

Disclosure gets in on the rap game with the new track they’ve produced for 17-year-old Bishop Nehru entitled ‘You Stressin”. The duo seem to have their hands in a little bit of everything nowadays, and it sounds like a good thing. This track features light beats and meaningful rhymes, reminiscent of that old-school hip-hop sound we all know and love. Disclosure are certainly making a big name for themselves recently and I hope the train keeps rolling, because it’s quite and exciting adventure following these two. Check...

Krooked Drivers Fuse Hip Hop and Funk in New Remix ‘Where the Hood At’

Sometimes artists get on a roll and just start busting out with quality tracks and I’m happy to report Krooked Drivers is certainly getting down with it. Their recent remix of Albert King and DMX’s “Where The Hood At” combines the genius of hip-hop lyrical hooks with funky electronic glitchy awesomeness. Of particular mention in my opinion is their inclusion of full vocal verses as opposed to chopping up the verses, which really gives it a feel of a fusion rather than a reduction, which some artists are prone to do....

The Hood Internet – Infinite Starts (Drake x Bauuer x RL Grime)

Whenever I hear the word “mash-up”, I think the Hood Internet. I’ve been listening to these guys for the longest time since I first heard their take on “Ignition” (which was admittedly my jam at one point of my life, but let’s not get into that right now). The Hood Internet is practically synonymous with the word “mash-up” and with good reason. The duo from Chicago makes some of the sickest mash-ups I have ever listened to. Unlike most acts out there, these guys take two songs from different...
