During a recent trip to Berlin, MAKJ posted a picture of him standing on top of a Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Instantly this sparked controversy against MAKJ as people were disgusted with his actions. MAKJ posted an appology to his Facebook yesterday stating it was not his intention to offend anyone. “I saw other people climbing and taking photos on the memorial and at the time I thought it was okay to do so,” said MAKJ. “I was wrong and I’m sorry if my actions have offended anyone.” Post by...read more
Fans familiar with Figure’s music know that every Halloween the legendary dubstep producer releases a new EP in the “Monsters” series. In a recent interview, we explored the possibility of him expanding his holiday spirit into Christmas. Dave All The Rave released this cool new tune this week called “Language of Rave” and it’s a good one to get the weekend started with. This is some insane progressive house that starts out with some deep melodies and a catchy beat. The track includes a variety of cool video game sounds and “pew-pews” that make it easy to put on repeat. Check out the tune and buy it HERE on Beatport. Dave All The Rave hails from St. Louis and his debut release was titled “Drop Bass” under Tommie Sunshine’s...read more
With Labor Day on the horizon, most of us would consider this to be the last official week of summer. This weekend, some will head to barbecues, others will spend some quiet time with home, and then there are those of us who know there is still time to squeeze in one more festival. This weekend Budweiser will be hosting it’s third annual Made In America Music Festival. Previous years have only...read more
The throwback artist of the week in the world of Moombahton is the lord, Munchi himself. He is one of the pioneering genuises in moombahton and god damn his music is good. Born & Raised in the Netherlands where Dutch House rules, Munchi spread the word of Moombahton through Dave Nada’s Moombahton EP & the rest is history. Munchi had a special guest mix with Diplo on his radio show “Diplo & Friends”. This mix shows the some what early days of Munchi’s work and his affiliations. I like this mix, so should...read more
Ricky (Joshua Vega) made a huge name for himself in the world of moombahton. His Rot10Musik label is doing a lot with a bunch of big names. His art of moombahton mixes were his version of what moombahton was and the identity of a “dying” genre. I appreciate fully what he has done for the genre and culture as a whole. We all know what situation he came from and if you don’t know (link) don’t get too caught up on it. Sazoon Booya changed the game and made it what you see today. The Art of Moombahton Vol. 4 has a mix of...read more
There is no end to the emerging production talent coming from Australia at the moment and today Basenji adds his name to the list of up and coming stars. Flume and Chet Faker are among some of the artists on Future Classic, the Australia-based label, and today Basenji joined them with his release of “Heirloom.” This track places you in a Japanese forest it seems, one of those feel-good summer time songs. It has some catchy beats and nice bass, starting out like trap, but the track goes in and out of very peaceful, relaxing...read more
Kill Paris released Foreplay this May, an EP on Skrillex’s OWSLA label, containing four funky tracks and showing off some true musical talent and production capability (that keytar, tho). Today he’s released the Foreplay Remixes EP, containing remixes from Wicked City, Joker, Krafty Kuts, and Random Movement. Notably absent are any remixes of The Walk, but the three other tracks from the original EP each have two remixes on this one. You can stream the whole EP on his Soundcloud or purchase it on iTunes, and make sure to catch...read more
