Every year EA’s FIFA introduces a brand new soundtrack for the game itself. This year, they’ve introduced an all-star lineup, such as Avicii, A-Trak and Madeon. Grafter and A-phone recently revealed their take on Bella Belle’s “Electric Swing Circus”. This is not typical EDM. If you’re looking for a heavy bass drop and lots of synthesizing, this song probably isn’t for you. “Electric Swing Circus” is strongly rooted in classic swing music with tasteful jazz and brass instrumentals. The song starts with an up-tempo, head-bobbing melody featuring harmony between trumpet and saxaphone. The bridge cuts into a vibey vocal accompanying the soulful sax. Finally,...read more
There’s nothing better than a free download on a Friday to perk things up. A tasty freebie comes today from Diskord, the latest signings to Flux Pavilion and Doctor P’s Circus Records. The announcement was made yesterday, and we’re guessing it won’t be too long to wait until the pair’s first release on the label. In the meantime, Diskord have dropped a free download entitled “Go Hard”, a raucous hybrid of rattling snares and wails of sirens, this one should be snapped up...read more
The latest single from Tomsize & BISHU is marked by strong hip-hop undertones and a whining synth. At first glance, it’s tough to distinguish anything special about “Mystic”. We listened through the first couple of drops and found the sound design clever and melody catchy, but the wow factor wasn’t there… yet. Luckily, there’s enough energy in the song to keep up going. We fell into the second bridge and patiently waited for the third and final drop. Finally we found what we were hoping for. The drop...read more
DJ/Producer Alex Cruz produced the deep-vocal track “Follow The Sun” for Pink Festival in Vermont. The song features vocalist Xavier Rudd whose eclectic singing reminds me of Bob Dylan pre-cigarettes. Cruz got to play a 4-hour set as the sun went down at Pink Fest and it was songs like this that made the vibe impeccable. He introduces a lead guitar over a sharp drum kick and other deep house percussions. We really like how the track seamlessly transitions from a vocal-centered harmony into an acoustic-like ballad. If you’ve spent the past few months completely cut off from the outside world, there’s still a good chance you’ve heard at least a portion of rapper Bobby Shmurda’s anthem ‘Hot Nigga’. The track and it’s accompanying Shmoney Dance have taken the nation by storm, and producers have been using remixes and bootlegs to ride the tidal wave of exposure the song is enjoying. Boombox Cartel doesn’t overthink their work or shy away from what they’re trying to do: create a bombastic, in your face...read more

Because Sava & Razz have not yet made an appearance on EDM Sauce, I suppose I’ll shed some light on just who these two guys are. They are from New York City, as most good progressive house duos are, and, more often than not, they tend to produce progressive house music. They also like to remix older classics such as Oasis’ “Wonderwall” and Sum 41′s “In Too Deep”. This time they took on the task of remixing Charlie XCX’s “Break The Rules”. The pop song was given a proper...read more
New York City based duo, Live City, have just released their latest track and is it ever a good one. They don’t tend to stick to one type of sound so it’s not easy to predict what kind of track their next release is going to be. For this one, they went back to the classic, feel good type of progressive house. A portion of the original remains, but the added piano and cheery melody take it to the next level. It’s an official remix but because they are just such nice guys, they are giving it away on their...read more
“Dark and sexy” is what Young Bombs thought of Route 94′s “My Love” and so they decided to put their own progressive spin on it. I have been enamoured with these guys since their first track. It is clear they have talent and them being from my hometown of Vancouver has no bearing at all on how I feel about them. I swear. They bump the original up to 128 bpm, add some strings and piano and the result is another quality track from the duo. Free download on their Facebook...read more
