The title replicates the experience of this track: a joyride. Never have I listened to a song that has made me genuinely feel like I should walk down the street snapping rhythmically. Right off the bat, this upbeat sound intertwined with smooth jazz undertones reminds me of something GRIZ would do. The overall synths included reinforce a dance-oriented tone contrasted amongst the relaxed instrumental melody. The juxtaposition of each bass drop coincides with the consistent bass guitar rhythm; highlighting this track’s casual yet energetic nature.
The jazzy nature of this Philadelphia duo has every listener on the edge of their seats. The surprises don’t stop as the dubstep tones of this song seep into your ears; but although this sound does echo Skrillex’s past work, it doesn’t capture the intense vibe he usually manages. It instead leaves me itching to hear what else these guys have in store. It appears this genre of ‘jazzstep’ is something incredibly unique; it only should leave listeners hoping there was a wider variety of similar-sounding artists to satiate their desires.
