Interview

Emerging Artist Profile: BOOMSLANG

Coming straight out of London, Ontario, we have our next emerging artist profile. BOOMSLANG, aka, Aboudi Lahib on his social media pages, is a very interesting up and coming producer that has taken his social media platforms by storm and solidifying a dedicated audience. He regularly finds himself live streaming to crowds of 25,000 people at a time and boasts nearly 40,000 dedicated, interactive followers on his Facebook. I got a chance to sit down with BOOMSLANG for an exclusive artist interview to find out what makes him tick, the importance of social media in the EDM scene, and what his upcoming plans are.

Check out BOOMSLANG's newest release below:

When asking BOOMSLANG about what got him interested in producing:

“I WENT THROUGH SOME TOUGH TIMES AS A TEEN AND THERE WASN'T REALLY ANYTHING I COULD JUST RELAX WITH. I FOUND A DEMO OF FL STUDIO, WATCHED A TON OF YOUTUBE VIDEOS, LEARNED THE BASICS OF PRODUCING, AND FOUND MYSELF WORKING IN ABLETON. IT KEPT MY MIND OFF EVERYTHING AND I JUST ENJOYED DOING IT. IT'S MY FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD.”

Obviously amassing a huge social media presence, EDM Sauce asked him what the importance of social media is in today's music scene:

“No matter what people say, social media matters a lot. Technology is ever evolving, and is by far the easiest way to grow your brand. I love interacting with my fans on social media; I think that's a huge reason why i have a dedicated following. after a live stream, I usually receive about 200 messages in one night. No matter how long it takes, I respond to every single one of them before the night is over. replying to your fans only will help grow your brand and show everyone you are genuine and you walk the walk.”

Growing a brand is very important in today's music scene. It's particularly interesting  when you are branded as the name BOOMSLANG. We asking Aboudi to elaborate:

“Honestly I have no idea or real reason. A few years ago I couldn't think of a name. Everything was taken. I think I was watching the discovery channel and there was a type snake called boomslang, and I thought it was dope. I don't even like snakes though. My favorite animal is a turtle.”

Moving forward, we tried to get inside the mind of this social media / producer mastermind and wanted to let our audience understand what makes him tick:

“I've never really been able to excel at much, until I started to focus on producing. It's the only thing in the world I can sit there for hours, come back, and listen to something I physically created from nothing. When I release a song and seeing the play count rise into the tens of thousands, there's no greater feeling honestly…”

Wrapping up the interview, we asked BOOMSLANG if he had any future plans and what he would tell young producers trying to make it:

“I want to eventually release an official e.p., so many artists start with one, and I feel like it can push me to the next level. There are a few things young producer should know though. It gets easier if you put in the time to improve. You can't expect to one day get on the computer and make a fool-proof track. instead of quitting, use it as motivation. also, when your music starts to get noticed and you gain some momentum. Remember you are nothing without those who support you. Give time back to your fans and you will receive it in return 3-fold. Never do this because you want to be famous, do it because you GENUINELY love it…”
