V Recordings are being represented this week by talented duo Paul T and Edward Oberon, who have just had their new double A-side single released through the label. They got digging out their five musical guilty pleasures to share with us.
1) Neneh Cherry – “Buffalo Stance”
What a classic – what a classic! We both remember seeing this on Top Of The Pops. What a gem. Every time this plays, you can't help but sing it , and that synth line just before the chorus.. you know the one. Yes, that one.
2) Bel Biv Devoe – “Poison”
David Jensen's network chart show and MTV Rotation were hot for this one, it's such a tongue in cheek tune. If it plays, I immediately MUST do “the running man” – standard behaviour.
3) Gary Numan – “Cars”
Synths Synths Synths and massive claps! Numan brought his innovative, minimal, robotic semi-darkwave electronic sound to radio. If you haven't listened to this whilst driving, you haven't lived.
4) Grace Jones – “Pull Up To The Bumper”
“City-scapes making you crave the metropolitan life” – an excellent hook, that incredibly recognisable voice. It's none other than Ms. Grace Jones… Then that beat and BASSLINE though! Oh lawd!
5) Placebo – “Pure Morning”
A staple of the 90s, the tin can snare, I remember listening to this in my friend's car driving to a local show. It comes on and it brings back memories, but truthfully you can never forget the first two lines of lyrics. No one forgets it.
